French Lick, Indiana holds a lot of memories for me. My 1st time visiting was on my 21st birthday! My birthday is December 26th and as you might imagine…nothing is open. But when you turn 21 years old and need somewhere fun to go, you go to a casino! I’ll never forget having my 1st official of-age drink, putting 75 cents in a slot machine right when I walked in, and walking away with $750! Talk about a cool birthday!
Before Scott and I were ever engaged we celebrated his Mom’s birthday in French Lick. This trip was one of my favorites and solidified a lot of things I was struggling with during that time. You know, all the “is he the one” type stuff! We rode horses, gambled a little bit, played out by the pools, and had such a fun time then.
Now since we’ve had little ones we have visited so many times. I had no idea French Lick caters to the kiddos like they do until recently! We have visited over the Christmas season, Halloween, New Years, and now we get to add July 4th to the mix!
I wanted to share that YES we will most definitely be back to celebrate the 4th here! I’m going to list everything we did and all the fun we had along the way here! Bookmark this for next year because you and your kiddos won’t want to miss it!
The pools are open until 12:30am and we were loving the option of keeping the kids moving and wearing them out! There is an indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is awesome but for me, the indoor pool is where it’s at. I love being able to have so much fun while out of the sun! These are by far the cleanest resort pools I’ve ever been to!
Hawaiian Scavenger Hunt
Stuffed Buddy Building
Ok, y’all… I definitely didn’t think the kids would love the live music as much as they did but we literally couldn’t pull them away. I had to bribe them with ice cream to get them into the hotel room! This band was so fun, interacting with the guests, appropriate for kids, and sounded great!
DJ Pool Party
On the 4th from 1:00-5:00pm there was a DJ playing awesome music and games going on. Emily even won a little prize which of course made her day!
Watermelon Eating Contest
We sadly had two little nappers during this but man, I really wanted to see Brody eat up some watermelon and get all sticky so I’m bookmarking this in my brain for next year!
Ladies For Liberty
These women were amazing! Emily and I visited the Mezzanine level of the hotel and watched them sing from there. We also saw them the next morning at breakfast singing! The kids loved seeing them sing and dancing along with the songs!
As you can see from photos the kids loved having their faces painted! I was shocked that little Brody sat there while they did it, but he did! I love that this was no extra charge, too!
Yep, you read that right, friends. The best shaved ice ever is here!
Of course, hello… You cant do the 4th of July without fireworks! We packed up our mat and some snacks and headed to the Red Lot. The kids absolutely loved running around playing frisbee with kids they just met, catching fireflies once it started getting dark, and making fun memories. Once the fireworks started it was nothing short of magical. French Lick did NOT disappoint!
The kids loved the playground and it’s always accessible and is pretty big!
This is where it was at for Brody. He swore the trolleys were choo-choo trains and wanted nothing more than to ride them all day long. I would be lying if I said we didn’t take a couple rides for no real reason other than to let him get his fix!
We have always loved French Lick and West Baden and cannot wait to visit again! Our kids were loving how late the pools were open, the bowling alley and arcade area, the pizza, the snacks, the shops, and all the fun they were able to have, It was totally a weekend about them and although the adults were completely exhausted, seeing their smiles made it all worth it of course!
